Information for Councils

Local government plays an important role in serving and supporting the local community. The Office works collaboratively with the Local Government sector and is the key adviser to the NSW Government on Local Government matters.

The resources contained in this section are provided to assist local councils to fulfil their legislative obligations and develop best practice. We support and advise councils through the provision of guidelines and resources, practice notes, oversight of the IP&R Framework, the promotion of councillor diversity, and support to councillors to assist them to understand their roles and responsibilities.
